Rita Lita Hot sauce
Role: Art Director + Illustrator
Self-initiated work
Packaging illustration for a gourmet hot sauce brand, Rita Lita. It was named for the founders’ great great-grandma Rita + Lita (Spanish for granny). Grandma Rita grew up on her fathers’ farm in Jalisco, MX long before her family moved to Texas a few generations later. Rita has passed but her family has kept her recipes alive. They wanted to make a larger tribute to her in a way that would really makeher proud. Their mission is to create food products that Grandma Rita would have approved of.
I was inspired by Mexican and Texas icons like the Mexican Aztec eagle, the Yellow Rose of Texas, and color inspiration from both the Mexican and Texan flags. I also took inspiration from textured embroidery, warm colors, abstract outdoor pastels, and interesting table settings.
